C/4 fans, Had an interesting weekend in Hilton Head SC. As part of a car weekend some buddies and I took our cars up from FL to Hilton Head. Friday was a day at the track where my son flogged his 355 Challenge around Roebling Road and me my 575 [a bit gingerly]. On Saturday a car show was held at a local park. Italian cars were the theme of this club show where judging was purely popular voting by the public. Plus Bill Marriott chose his 5 favorite Italian cars of the show. I had my 575, 330 GTC, 246 GTS and my newly acquired C/4 there. Marriott walked right by the 360s, Maranellos, 430s and 3X8s. He barely viewed my 330 and show quality Dino. When he got to the C/4 he stopped, walked around it, looked inside and spoke to the show judges in detail. Shortly thereafter I was informed that the C/4 was chosen as his Best in Show Italian car. This from a serious collector that really knows his cars. Pretty cool me thinks. As most of us C/4 enthusiasts know you have to be somewhat of an insider to understand the uniqueness, usefulness and beauty of the 365 GTC/4. Fun weekend. And my 330 and Dino were top 20 winners chosen by the public. But I got more comments about the C/4 from attendees that quoted "Your car is the nicest car in the show". Hello Steve Welcome to the site & what a great story. Not sure who Bill Marriott is (apart from the obvious hotel connection) so a quick trip on IE 7 to find out. Ian, Bill Marriott is indeed the hotel magnate as you might have found out. I saw his collection 20 years ago and know it has grown significantly since then. He brought a beautiful 59 410 SuperAmerica to the show along with a sexy Maserati AG6 Zagato coupe. Wow!! Needless to say Mr. Marriott know cars. I still have not learned to post pictures, but if you go to www.Pixels.Savannahnow.com you will see some pics. Only one of the C/4 w/ me driving up to the stand to receive my award from Bill. Sam, Rather than the track I will plan on taking the C/4 up to the mountains in NC/TN areas in the spring. Our club holds the Ferrari Challenge Cup [May 29, 08]at the Grove Park Inn outside Asheville. We pick various routes thru the Blue Ridge mtns, play golf [some not me], dine outside at the Biltmore, and just have a merry time together. Plus we raise $$$ for families of fallen soldiers. If you [or anyone reading this]has any interest let me know. I will be doing a suspension overhaul before then. The suspension is original, including leaky leveler shock. So I have some work to do. Plus the car and I need to become more acquainted before I venture out too far from home. It was 30 years ago when I last drove a C/4. I use the 575 for long hauls right now [just did 1500 mi]. But I want to get the 330 and C/4 road worthy over the next few months. They both are great long distance runners. I am sure I will be asking this forum's experts for advice for info over the next few months. ciao, Steve CanteraComment

I traded my 330 GT 2+2 for the C/4 last September because my wife did not enjoy the 330's ride. I immediately put 600 miles on it before taking it off the road to repair: transmission, differential and drive shaft and new mouse fur, ouch. This year I have driven over 3500 miles with no major problems beyond coil replacements. The car is great, so far relatively bullet-proof and the best fun is letting others drive it and watching their expressions. This winter will be a valve adjustment, engine detail, plus the small "while your at its." There is a 1,000 mile rally that is run by Rich Taylor and his wife that goes through the Appalachians you might be intereted in doing too. The price is not cheap, but most $$ goes to charity and it covers everyting, including fix-it crew. From all reports it is wonderful. www.vintagerallies.com PS replace your levelers with the coil-over setup that is available, no fuss, works great.Comment

Sam, Thanks for the incite to the reliability of the C/4. It is a classy GT good for long trips. I will check out Vintage Rallies for their trips. I remember when I had a 365 GT 2+2 that the ride was not as smooth as the C/4 or the GTC. It had a kingpin front suspension. I agree that the coil over is the way to go w/ the levelers. thx Steve CanteraComment
